Homeowners need greater protection from poor-quality new build housing amid the government’s bold ambition to see 1.5 million new homes built over the next five years. The warning comes from the New Homes Ombudsman, which deals with complaints about the quality of new housing by home buyers.
According to research last year 32% of people described new build housing as ‘poor-quality’ while 55% said they felt older homes were a better quality than newbuild properties. Just 21% said they felt new homes were better quality.
